Janet Zuehlke, 62
Lafayette — Janet Zuehlke, 62, of Lafayette, died April 3, 2008 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. Funeral service was held April 8 at First Lutheran Church in Lafayette, with Rev. Garry Grunzke officiating. Interment will be held at a later date. Schmucker Funeral Service of New Ulm handled the arrangements.
Janet Kae Thompson, the daughter of Gaylord and Alice (DePaepe) Thompson, was born Jan. 6, 1946 in Blue Earth. She attended Blue Earth schools, graduating from Blue Earth High School in 1964. Janet was united in marriage to Richard Zuehlke Sept. 18, 1965 at Blue Earth. They made their home in New Ulm for a year before moving to Lafayette. Janet was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed planting flowers in the yard, watching the fire on the fireside patio, family vacations and spending time with her grandchildren. Janet owned and operated a day care for many years. For the past several years she worked for the former Good Samaritan Center and Good Samaritan Assisted Living Center in Lafayette. She was a member of First Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School for many years, the American Legion Auxiliary and she was a Girl Scout Leader.
Survivors include her husband Richard of Lafayette; daughters Lisa (Dave) Zuehlke Mattson of Big Lake, Jennifer (Fred) Frickson of Hutchinson, Heather (Todd) Burt of Lake City; six grandchildren Malena, Greg, Hannah, Megan, Grace and Lillian; sisters Joyce Landheer, Navonne (Dean) Pilgrim all of Buffalo Center, Iowa, Darlene (Nyle) Huston and twin sister Janice (Jerry) Sonich all of Blue Earth; brother Allan (Nancy) Thompson of Blue Earth; sisters-in-law Rosemary Hardy of Rock Island, Ill., Marlane Oachs, Iris Balzotti, Annette (Mark) Lange all of Mankato; brother-in-law Joel (Sheila) Zuehlke of Truman; nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Robert Thompson.
The family prefers memorials in lieu of flowers.
