Rella M. Babcock, 85

Winnebago — Rella M. Babcock, age 85, of Winnebago, died April 23, 2008, at St. Lukes Lutheran Care Center in Blue Earth.

Funeral services were held April 27, 2008, at Spencer-Owen Funeral Home in Winnebago, with Rev. Lora Sturm officiating. Burial was in Bass Lake Cemetery, rural Winnebago. Spencer-Owen Funeral Home, Inc. was in charge of arrangements.

She was born Jan. 3, 1923, at David City, Neb., the daughter of Richard H. and Edna E. (Smith) Grubaugh.

Rella was a graduate of David City High School in 1940. On Sept. 25, 1941 she married Russell R. Babcock at Columbus, Neb. They farmed in Nebraska until moving to Winnebago in 1956. She worked at Stokely-Van Camp in Winnebago for 20 years. Mr. Babcock preceded her in death on March 7, 2008.

She enjoyed gardening, fishing, dancing, and cooking for her family.

She is survived by her son: Ken (Bonnie) Babcock of Delavan, daughter: Karen (Jerry) Cyphers of Winnebago, nine grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, brother: Elmer Grubaugh, sisters: Luella Byam, Fern Grubaugh, all of David City, Neb., several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and three brothers.
