Shirley Sattre Kark, 83

Ft. Meyers, Fla. — Shirley Sattre Kark, age 83, of Ft. Meyers, Fla., passed away April 23, 2008.

Shirley was born in Fergus Falls on March 25, 1925. She lived most of her life in Evansville, Blue Earth and Osage, Iowa, before moving to Florida in 1988.

Before her marriage in 1945, Shirley attended St. Olaf College in Northfield.

Shirley lived a busy and active life caring for her family and enjoying her friends. She was an active member of her church, Our Saviors Lutheran in Osage, Iowa, as well as Peace Lutheran Church in Ft. Meyer. Shirley had a beautiful singing voice and she was a member of her church choir for many years. She loved traveling and enjoyed countless trips throughout the U.S. and over seas. One of her fondest pleasures was spending time on the golf course.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Arthur; sons, Richard Kark of Madison, Wisc. and Kenneth (Cindy) Kark of Tucson, Ariz.; daughter, Sylvia Kark of Eden Prairie; grandchildren, Julia and Colin Kark-Callandar and Christopher and Sarah Kark; sisters, ViAnne Christensen of Blue Earth and Marian (Donald) Kark of Ft. Meyers; four nieces; a nephew; brothers-in-law, Don (Marian) Kark, Robert (Susan) Kark and Emil (LaVonne) Kark; and sister-in-law, Beverly Nave.

Shirley’s family was a very important part of her life. She was a woman of uncommon kindness and grace who will truly be missed by her family and the league of friends whose lives she touched.

A memorial service will be held in her honor this summer in Osage.
