Blue Earth — Lilas J. Koch, age 86, of Blue Earth, died May 4, 2008, at United Hospital in Blue Earth.

Funeral services were held May 8, 2008, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Earth. Interment was in Woodland Hills Memorial Park in Mankato. Woodland Hills Funeral Home in Mankato handled the arrangements.

Lilas was born Feb. 8, 1922 in Minneapolis to Harry and Selma (Peterson) Vining. She was a graduate of Austin High School. On Sept. 7, 1945 Lilas married Raymond J. Koch in Minneapolis. She was a homemaker, mother, grandmother, and caregiver. She worked as a records clerk at the United Hospital in Blue Earth and also worked as a records clerk at the hospital in Virginia, Minn.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran of Blue Earth and Holy Rosary Catholic Church in North Mankato. Lilas had many interests. She enjoyed bible study and taught Sunday school, enjoyed reading, watching sports on TV, tennis in high school, dancing, chorus and she sang with an orchestra at the Austin Ballroom. She especially loved seeing and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Lilas is survived by her daughters, Sherry (Jim) Richardson of Lester Prairie, Carol (Chuck) More of Blue Earth; grandchildren, Kelly (Ashley) Bleess, Angela (Todd) Enger, Jason Richardson, Matt Richardson and Tom More; great grandchildren, Dayton and Logan Enger, Joseph and Lauren Bleess; sister, Joyce (John) Wilson of Minneapolis; many nieces and nephews; special friends, Vi Anderson and Mae Ellestad both of Blue Earth and Irene Earl of Pharr, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Jody; brother, Curt Vining; and her husband, Raymond.
