Betty J. Tagatz, 80
Blue Earth — Mrs. Betty J. Tagatz, age 80, of Blue Earth, died Thursday, June 5, 2008, at the United Hospital in Blue Earth.
Memorial services were held June 7, at 11 a.m. in St. Paul Lutheran Church of Blue Earth with the Reverend Dale Kohrs officiating.
Visitation took place one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
Patton Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 400 E. 14th Street in Blue Earth was in charge of the arrangements.
Betty was born Jan. 9, 1928, at Blue Earth, the daughter of Frank and Freida (Cordes) Bell. She graduated from Blue Earth High School and Mankato School of Cosmetology.
On Nov. 12, 1950, she married Winston Tagatz at rural Blue Earth. The couple farmed briefly and then moved to Blue Earth, where she owned Betty’s Beauty Shop. Winston owned and operated Phillip’s 66 bulk oil company.
Betty is survived by her husband, Winston Tagatz of Blue Earth; sons, Mark (Deb) Tagatz of Alexandria, and Steven Tagatz of Elko, Nev.; two grandchildren, Elizabeth and Michael Tagatz; sisters, Clarice (Ed) Burke of Rochester and Priscilla (David) Sohn of Long Lake; brother-in-law, Wally (Charlotte) Tagatz of Rochester; sister-in-law, Kathryn Tagatz of Blue Earth; and many nieces and nephews that were special to her.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorials are preferred to United Hands Hospice or St. Paul Lutheran Church in Blue Earth.
