Adorphus “Duffy” Erdahl, 82

Blue Earth — Adorphus “Duffy” Erdahl, age 82, of Blue Earth, died July 21, 2008, at his home surrounded by his family. Funeral services were held July 25, 2008, at the United Lutheran Church in Frost. Rev. Patricia Hinkie and Rev. Edward Nieman officiated. Burial was in Dell Lutheran Cemetery, Frost. Patton Funeral Home and Cremation Service was in charge of arrangements.

He was born July 27, 1925, at Albert Lea, the son of Alfred and Clara (Holmseth) Erdahl.

Duffy was a graduate of Blue Earth High School, class of 1944. He attended the University of Minnesota Agricultural School and the Lutheran Bible Institute in Minneapolis. On June 25, 1954, he married Barbara Nelson at Bethany Lutheran Church. They just celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary. Duffy farmed all of his life until retiring in 1990. He remained active in the farm operation until his death.

He was an active member of the United in Faith Lutheran Parish, and was also involved in the Blue Earth River Conference and Synod. He was a member of Toastmasters and numerous agricultural advisory committees. Since 1967, he was involved with the University of Minnesota M.A.S.T. International program. Duffy hosted and trained many agricultural students from all over the world.

Duffy’s hobbies include aerobatic flying, photography and discussing philosophy and politics with anyone who would listen. He was an avid Minnesota Twins fan and also enjoyed boxing, football and basketball.

Adorphus “Duffy” Erdahl is survived by his wife, Barbara Erdahl of Blue Earth, son, James (Lisa) Erdahl of Blue Earth, daughter, Nancy (Dan) Varberg of St. Paul, grandchildren, Katie and Kyle Erdahl and Sara, Laura and Clare Varberg.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
