Blue Earth — Ervin E. ‘Barney’ Bauman, age 82, of Blue Earth, died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2008, at his home.
Memorial services were held Aug. 7, 2008, at First United Methodist Church in Blue Earth.
Burial took place at Immanuel United Methodist Cemetery.

Ervin E. ‘Barney’ Bauman was born July 21, 1926, at Blue Earth, to Walter and Alice (Glaesman) Bauman.
He was married to Donna Bea Bales of Huntley on Sept. 16, 1950, at the Huntley Baptist Church.
Barney graduated from Blue Earth High School and the Veterans Farm School. In high school, he played football on the North-South All Star football team. He also played baseball for the Blue Earth town baseball team. He loved horses and enjoyed refurbishing antique tractors.
Barney was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church of rural Blue Earth and was the cemetery sexton and treasurer of the Immanuel United Methodist Cemetery Permanent Care Fund. He served as the Blue Earth Township Treasurer and the Blue Earth Township Assessor, as well as the chairman of the Faribault County Planning Commission. He was also a member of the Faribault County Historical Society. Barney also served in the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Bea; two daughters, Julie (Bob) Goodrie of Battle Lake and Karla (Bruce) Brenckman of Maple Grove; son, Kurt Bauman of Blue Earth; grandchildren, Katie (Ryan) Hughes, Nicholas and Alex Brenckman; great-grandson, Mason Hughes; sister, Marjorie Hill; sister-in-law, JoAnne Bauman; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harold; and brother-in-law, Bob Hill..
