Marvin A. Groskreutz, 74

Wells – Marvin Arthur Groskreutz, age 74, of Wells, died Friday, Aug. 15, 2008, at his home in Wells. Funeral Services were held Aug. 19, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wells.

The Reverend Kathy Fullarton officiated and burial was in the Danville Township Cemetery, Blue Earth County.

Marvin A. Groskreutz was born March 27, 1934, the son of Arthur and Gertrude (Bruegger) Groskreutz in Vivian Township, Waseca County.

He graduated from Waldorf High School in 1952 and attended the Waseca School of Agriculture and the Mankato Technical Community College.

On June 12, 1964, Marvin was united in marriage to Mildred Elaine Bartsch in Rapidan.

Marvin farmed and owned Marv’s Repair Shop and was active in the Walnut Lake 4-H Club with his children.

He liked Mountain Dew, cheese and sausage. Marvin had constructed his own Minneapolis Moline tractor. He was a member of the Minneapolis Moline Collectors Club, the Prairie Gold Rush Organization, and in 2003, hosted the National MM Collectors Club Show at his farm near Wells.

Marvin enjoyed western movies, reading and inventing and he loved to give his grandchildren tractor rides.

Marvin is survived by his wife, Mildred of Wells; four children, Brian (Sarah) Groskreutz of Nicollet, Lon Groskreutz of Wells (special friend Dianna Fitzl of Faribault, Ranae (Dennis) Thompson of St. Clair, and Wade (Robin) Groskreutz of Truman; five grandchildren, Dylan and Levi Thompson of St. Clair, Samantha, Cameron and Breanna Groskreutz of Truman; one brother, Eugene (Audrey) Groskreutz of Wells; Brothers and sisters-in-law, Lorraine (Jerry) David of Montgomery, Carol (James) Rein of Hastings, Harold (Donnave) Bartsch of Chaska, Helen (Lowell) Schmidt of Waseca, and Irene (Roger) Schultz of Wells; along with many nieces and nephews and their families.

He was preceded in death by his parents, father and mother-in-law: Paul and Nora Bartsch, many uncles and aunts, and good friend George Yokiel.
