Blue Earth — Dorothy Hanna, age 87, of Blue Earth, died Aug. 26, 2008, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Center, Blue Earth. Funeral services were held Sept. 3, 2008, at Patton Funeral Home in Blue Earth, Rev. Lora Sturm officiated. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Blue Earth.

Memorial donations are preferred to Hope United Methodist Church or The Delavan School Roof Fund. Patton Funeral Home and Cremation Service was in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy was born April 25, 1921, in Delavan the daughter of Edward and Edith (Conrad) Hahn.

She grew up in Delavan where she graduated from Delavan High School in 1939. After graduation she attended Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Pater where she studied business.

Dorothy enjoyed sewing, singing, fishing, being a homemaker and she loved her dog – Molly. She was active with the Senior Citizens in Blue Earth, volunteered at the Rainbow Coop and Blue Earth Library, and was active in several community organizations. She was a longtime member of the former First United Methodist Church in Blue Earth, now the Hope United Methodist Church.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Henry Ficken and Wayne Hanna and her sister, Adrienne Stauffenberg.

She is survived by her sister, Harriet Heppner of Delavan, step-son, Lesley Hanna and step-daughter, Sharon Nowak both of the Twin Cities, grandchildren, great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and special friend, Clifford Fuchs.
