Duane C. Edwards, 67
St. Paul — Duane Charles Edwards. age 67, of St. Paul, died Sept. 9, 2008, at his home in St. Paul from colon cancer.
Funeral services were held Sept. 13, 2008, at Spencer-Owen Funeral Home in Winnebago, with Rev. Pam Silverain and Rev. Brian Silverain officiating. Burial was in Basey Cemetery, Winnebago.
He was born Feb. 19, 1941, at Alpha, the son of Calvin W. and Ruby E. (Buck) Edwards.
He attended grade school for 8 years at the one room schoolhouse in Middletown Township and graduated from Jackson High School in 1959. He met his wife Lucille Irene Petersen in the summer of 1964 and they were married Apr. 12, 1965 in Winnebago. Duane farmed for four years before attending Electronic school at the Wadena Technical Institute in Wadena, graduating in May 1966. He started working for Honeywell in 1966 as a test and repair technician in the Radar Altimeter Dept. He went on into a Mobile Controls development dept. which was sold. This eventually became known as part of the Sauer-Danfoss Co., where he retired in 2007 after 41 years.
As hobbies he has enjoyed amateur radio, fishing, hunting, family genealogy, woodcarving and painting.
He is survived by his wife Lucille Edwards of St. Paul, son Ayron (Renae) Edwards of Jackson, daughter Cynthia (Kermit) Carter of St. Paul, two grandsons Wesley and Kyle Edwards, mother Ruby Edwards of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, brother Donald (Judi) Edwards of Benson, sisters Carol (Daniel) Cookinham of San Diego, Calif. and Versa (Robert) Lauritsen of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his father.
