Frost — Melvin A. Bromeland, age 86, of Frost, died Sept. 17, 2008, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Center, Blue Earth. Funeral services will be held Monday, Sept. 22, 2008, at 2 p.m., at United Lutheran Church in Frost, with Rev. Karl Rydholm officiating. Burial will be in the United Lutheran Cemetery, Frost. Visitation time was from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, at Patton Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 400 E. 14th Street, in Blue Earth and one hour prior to services at the church.
Melvin was born Nov. 11, 1921, at Brush Creek Township, the son of Andrew and Alette (Midtbo) Bromeland. He was raised and educated in Brush Creek where he attended rural District School 82. He was married to Betty Nelson on May 28, 1944 at Dell Lutheran Church, rural Frost. In the late 1940’s, Melvin began the Bromeland Excavation Company. Excavating and building projects were his passion which built a successful business and kept him working on projects until 2007. He was a longtime member of United Lutheran Church in Frost and also served on the Frost School Board. Later in life, he and Betty began to enjoy wintering in the Mesa, Ariz., area and enjoyed some travel. He also enjoyed playing cards at the Frost Senior Citizens Center and having coffee with friends at the Frost Café.
Melvin is survived by his wife Betty Bromeland of Blue Earth, children Jim (Carol) Bromeland of Houston, Bob (Barb) Bromeland of Blue Earth, Mary (Bill) Halverson of Frost, Tom Bromeland of Blue Earth, his sister Gertrude Mohr of Frost, ten grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, sister-in-law, Thelma Bromeland of Frost, brother-in-law, Wesley (Irene) Nelson of Blue Earth, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Arnold and Donald Bromeland.
