Sigurd August Urberg, 69

Blue Earth — Services for Sigurd Urberg were held Sept. 18, 2008 at Cross View Lutheran Church in Edina. Morris Nilsen Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Sigurd August Urberg was born on Jan. 4, 1939 in LaCrosse, Wis., to Sigurd and Amy (Yahr) Urberg. Growing up the son of a pastor, Sig and his family lived in various towns in Wisconsin and Minnesota. Sig graduated from Mahnomen High School, Mahnomen in 1957. He went on to attend vocational school in Thief River Falls to be an electronic technician. In June of 1959, he enlisted in the Air Force and served four years as a medical service specialist.

Sig was united in marriage to Dorothy Cuhel on June 20, 1964 in Anoka. He worked at Honeywell in Minneapolis until he moved to Blue Earth and began working for Telex. In 1989, Sig retired due to poor health.

Sigurd enjoyed spending time with his family, listening to classical music and rooting for the Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Vikings.

Sigurd is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Blue Earth; four children, John (Tamie) Urberg of Eau Claire, Wis., Tim (Jen) Urberg of Edina, Cindy Prior of Des Moines, Iowa and Matt Urberg of Burnsville; four grandchildren, Adam, Ellie, Andrew and Daniel; his mother Amy Urberg of Waterville; four brothers, Sofus (Harriet) Urberg of New Ulm, Marty (Kathy) Urberg of Minneapolis, Paul Urberg of Minneapolis and Peter (Carrie) Urberg of Oskaloosa, Iowa; one sister, Patty Guthmiller of Mandam, N.D.; and many cousins, aunts, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Sigurd Urberg and his grandparents.
