Alta L. Renkly, 94
Blue Earth — Alta L. Renkly, age 94, of Blue Earth, died Sept. 19, 2008, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Center, Blue Earth. Funeral services were held Sept. 26, 2008, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Emerald Township, with Rev. Dale Kohrs officiating. Burial was in Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery. Patton Funeral Home and Cremation Service was in charge of arrangements.
She was born March 5, 1914, in Rome Township, the daughter of Paul and Anna (Grimmelman) Ehrich. Alta grew up in the rural Elmore area where she attended country school and St. John’s Parochial School. She was married to Albert H. Renkly on June 30, 1932 in Elmore. The couple farmed the Renkly Family farm northeast of Blue Earth for many years. They moved to Blue Earth in the early 1970’s. Alta was a longtime member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church where she was active in Ladies Aide. She was also active in the U of MN Extension Clubs, enjoyed playing cards, and tended to large vegetable and flower gardens. Alta and Albert were both pilots who enjoyed traveling in their airplane to Mexico, Central America and all over the U.S.
Alta is survived by her children, Violet Mensing of Blue Earth, Richard (Eunyce) Renky of Arlington, Maynard (Anne) Renkly of Arlington, S.D., Marian DeLeon of Blue Earth, Elaine Alderink of Foley, Harold Renkly of Lake Benton, Darold (Corrine) Renkly of Volga, S.D., Alice (Harlan) Kuchenbecker of Jackson, Rodger (Jody) Renkly of Blue Earth, 33 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 20 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2000, one sister, two brothers, two grandsons, two great grandchildren, two infant great grandchildren, a daughter-in-law and three sons-in-law.
