Avis Boettcher, 78

Elmore — Services for Avis Boettcher, age 78, of Elmore, were held at 11 a.m. on Nov. 1, 2008, at St. Johns Lutheran Church of Elmore with the burial at the church cemetery. Patton Funeral Home and Cremation Service was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Boettcher died Oct. 29, 2008, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born Jan. 16, 1930, in Scanlon. She graduated from Elmore High School in 1948 and married Vernon Boettcher Nov. 11, 1950. In 1953, they moved to Tacoma, Wash., where her husband served in the military. After returning to Elmore in 1955, they continued farming North of Elmore until the present time. Avis was a member of St Johns Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir for over 50 years. Avis was a member of the Happy Neighbor Club, Birthday Club, Ladies Aid, a founding member of the Faribault County Humane Society, enjoyed gardening and was involved in 4-H for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents Lygia Halpin and Alfred Mathison, her sisters Ruth Mathison, Thelma (Vern) Ward, Cleo (Gene) Hurley, Lois (Wally) Weil, brothers Don Johnson and Mansel “Buck” Mathison and a son-in-law, Gary Olthoff.

She is survived by her husband Vernon, five children, Nancy (Bob) Boyer, Brian (JoEllen) Boettcher, Kent Boettcher, Lori Olthoff, Amy (Roger) Swenson, a sister-in-law, Joan Mathison, nine grandchildren and five great grandchldren. She will be missed by one and all.

Memorials should be offered to St. Johns Lutheran Church in Elmore.
