Edward “Eddie” Pfaffinger, 91

Blue Earth — Edward “Eddie” Pfaffinger, age 91, of Blue Earth, died Oct. 25, 2008, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Center, Blue Earth. Funeral services were held on Oct. 30, 2008, at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Blue Earth. Father Mark McNea officiated. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Blue Earth. Patton Funeral Home and Cremation Service was in charge of arrangements.

He was born Oct. 4, 1917, on the family homestead in Blue Earth, the son of Joseph and Catherine (Bircheneder) Pfaffinger. He was raised in Blue Earth where he was a 1934 graduate of Blue Earth High School. He entered the U.S. Navy on March 16, 1945, where he became an electronics Technicians Mate 3rd Class. He returned from the service on June 28, 1946. Edward was married to Kathleen Gertrude Walker on Jan. 24, 1959, in Blue Earth. He farmed his entire life and was a second generation farmer on his family farm northwest of Blue Earth. He was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, was past president of the Wrestling Booster Club and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4580 where he served in the honor guard. His hobbies included reading and WWII history.

Edward Pfaffinger is survived by his sons David (Denise) Pfaffinger of Blue Earth, and Daniel Pfaffinger of Blue Earth, his daughter Cheryl (Mark) Teems of Blue Earth, his grandchildren Jeff and Rachel Pfaffinger, and Taylor and Trevor Teems, his brother Walter Pfaffinger of Blue Earth, his sister Helen Pfaffinger of Arizona, his sister-in-laws Agnes Pfaffinger of Blue Earth and Vivian Pfaffinger of Mankato, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Kathleen, an infant daughter and brothers: Frank, John, Otto and Richard Pfaffinger.
