Henry H. Hansen, 81
Winona — Henry H. Hansen, age 81, of Winona, died Oct. 29, 2008, at Lake Winona Manor, Winona. He was born in Faribault County on Feb. 24, 1927, the son of Clarence J. and Theresa (Studness) Hansen.
Henry earned a degree in music from McPhail College of Music in Minneapolis and later a master’s degree from Winona State College. He then taught music at Welcome, Weltton, Ariz. and from 1961 to 1983 in Winona School District 861.
Henry served in the U.S. Navy, earning the rank of Seaman First Class.
He is a member of the Central Lutheran Church, Winona; Nor-Win Chapter, Sons of Norway and the National Education Association. He was a faithful member of the morning coffee club at McDonald’s.
Henry is survived by his wife, Marilyn; a son, Charles (Erin) of Kasson, a daughter, Leanne Hansen (Phil) of Bloomington; six grandchildren, Theresa (Joe) Mattson, Stephen Poljack, Leah Davis, Katherine Badger, Courtney Hansen and Andrea Butman. Also two great-grandchildren, Cole Badger and Chandler Herpich.
Two brothers and two sisters survive, Harland (Marian) Hansen of Mapleton, Jerome (Helen) Hansen of Mankato, Mary Ann (Lester) Hatteberg of Delavan and Ruth Stefferud of Lincoln, Neb. Two sisters-in-law, Varolis Hansen of Vadnais Heights and Janet Hansen of Chicago, Ill.
Memorial services celebrating Henry’s life were held Nov. 1, 2008, at Central Lutheran Church, Winona. Rev. Scott E. Olson officiated. Interment at a later date in Rosehill Cemetery, Winnebago.
