Elnora Mensing, 87
Buffalo Center, Iowa — Elnora Mensing, age 87, of Buffalo Center, Iowa, died Nov. 27, 2008, at Timely Mission Nursing Home in Buffalo Center.
Funeral Services were held Dec. 1, 2008, at Winter Funeral Home in Blue Earth with Pastor Perry Aalgaard. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery in Blue Earth.
Elnora Viola Ehrich Mensing was born on Nov. 3, 1921, in Faribault County, the daughter of Otto and Lena (Kammin) Ehrich. She was the youngest of three children. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith at St. John’s Lutheran Church in rural Elmore.
She was united in marriage to Ralph H. Mensing on Feb. 20, 1944, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Blue Earth and were married for 59 years. Together they farmed near Blue Earth until 1960 when they moved into Blue Earth. They then moved to Fairmont in 1964. In 1970, they moved to Ankeny, Iowa and returned to Fairmont in 1974. During this time, she worked at Green Giant, Kiel’s Bakery, and the Holiday Inn. After Ralph’s death in 2003, Elnora moved to Buffalo Center and remained in her home until April 2005 when she moved to Timely Mission Nursing Home.
Elnora is survived by her two sons, Randall (Jacquelyn) Mensing of Broomfield, Colo., and Bruce (Cindy) Mensing of Rosemount, daughter Marsha (Gary) Peterson of Buffalo Center; three grandsons Jeffrey (Kim) Mensing, Kory Mensing and Thomas Peterson; two granddaughters Juliett and Nicolee Mensing; sister Mildred Kienitz; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Arnold and Beatrice Mensing.
