Nada A. Grant, 81
Winnebago — Nada A. (Shea) Grant, age 81, of Winnebago, died Dec. 8, 2008, at her residence in Winnebago.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008, at 9:30 a.m., at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Winnebago. Rev. Mark McNea officiated. Burial was in Basey Cemetery, Winnebago.
She was born April 27, 1927, at Blue Earth, the daughter of Robert and Esther (Arbeiter) Shea.
She grew up and attended school in Winnebago. On July 27, 1944, she married Arnold (Red) Grant. They spent most of their 50 years of married life in Winnebago.
Nada was a loyal and dedicated employee for 23 years of MET in Winnebago where she was plant manager. She was an avid gardener, nature lover, and healer of broken wings. She could identify a bird’s call when no one else could hear it. She specialized in fried chicken, baked beans, potato salad, and chocolate cake. She was a staunch Democrat: she knew every politico in the news and had an opinion on all of them.
Nada was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Rosary Society, American Legion Auxiliary and volunteer coordinator for Meals-On-Wheels.
She is survived by her eight children: Linda Cordie of Mound, Tom (Carol) Grant of Woodbury, Mona (Bruce) Magnuson of Minnetrista, Bob (Denise) Grant of Winnebago, Tereasa (Don) Bontjes of Spicer, Peter (Shelly) Grant of Kasson, Kevin (Vicki) Grant of Blue Earth, Jennifer (Mike) Engesser of Luverne, 23 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, sister Kathryn Allen and sister-in-law Fern Shea, both of Albert Lea, sister-in-law Elaine Shea of Mankato.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five brothers and three sisters.
