Astrid M. Ahrens, 93

Northfield — Astrid M. Ahrens, age 93, of Northfield, formerly of Blue Earth, died Dec. 22, 2008, at Three Links Care Center, Northfield. Funeral services will be held Monday, Dec. 29, 2008, at 1 p.m., at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Blue Earth, with Rev. Dale Kohrs officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Blue Earth. Visitation time will be two hours prior to services at the church. Patton Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Blue Earth is assisting the family with the arrangements.

She was born Dec. 10, 1915, the daughter of Jens and Louise (Fredrickson) Knoff, at Sims, N.D., and grew up on a farm near Grafton, N.D. She graduated from Concordia College in Moorehead and received her Masters Degree from Mankato State. She taught home economics and many other courses in her long teaching career. She taught in Nicollet, Elmore, Delavan and Blue Earth for 33 years, retiring in 1976. Astrid married Ervin Ahrens June 18, 1940, and they lived in Blue Earth until she moved, following Ervin’s death in 1992, to Three Links in Northfield in 1998.

Astrid is survived by her daughter Mary (Harlan) More of Northfield, her grandsons Randy (Joanne Swandby) More, Scott (Diane) More, granddaughter Rebecca (Steve) Piechowski, great grandchildren Ethan More, Lindsey and Sydney More, Madeline and Mary Piechowski and sisters-in-law Charlotte Thompson and Ione Gartzke.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ervin in 1992 and four brothers.
