Lillian Anderson, 84

Titonka, Iowa — Lillian Anderson, age 84, of Titonka, Iowa, formerly of Rake, Iowa, died Jan. 19, 2009, at Titonka Care Center in Titonka.

The funeral ceremony was held Jan. 23, 2009, at the First Baptist Church of Buffalo Center. Pastor Ernest Thompson officiated. Burial was in West Cemetery in Rake. Winter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Lillian Eleanor Anderson, the daughter of William and Augusta (Erdmann) Hiller was born May 6, 1924, at Guckeen.

Lillian was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Blue Earth. She also sang in the church choir. Lillian was a graduate of Blue Earth High School. After graduating, she worked at Friesen’s Dime Store for a short time and then went to work at J.C. Penney in Blue Earth where she worked until her marriage to Leonard Anderson on Oct. 19, 1952. They then resided on the family farm at Elmore.

After their move, Lillian joined Liberty Lutheran Church in Rake. Lillian was an active member in the church as treasurer for Sunday school and as president and treasurer for ladies aide.

Lillian enjoyed gardening and working in her flowerbeds and she also enjoyed baking.

Due to her failing health, Lillian became a resident of the Titonka Care Center in 1999 where she made her home until departing from this life.

Survivors include her children: Dale (Judy) Anderson of San Antonio, Fla., Debra (Daniel) Quamme of Emmetsburg, Iowa, Robert (Connie) Anderson of Buffalo Center, Iowa, Mark Anderson of Buffalo Center; nine grandchildren: Andrea (Steve) Archer of Ankeny, Iowa, Jacob Anderson of Brooksville, Fla., Jennifer Quamme of Okoboji, Iowa, Kelly Ruth (Kyle) Winter of Iowa City, Iowa, Keeshia Gaimari of St. Petersburg, Fla., David Quamme of Rake, Jason Anderson of Ankeny, Tyler Anderson of Iowa City and Jordan Anderson of Buffalo Center; three great grandchildren: G. Alexander, Lucas and Sydne Archer of Ankeny; a sister Esther Volk of Blue Earth; as well as many relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leonard in 2005, her brother William and her sister Evelyn.
