Lucille A. Hines, 79

Fairmont — Funeral services for Lucille A. Hines, age 79, of Fairmont were held Feb. 5, 2009, at St. John United Church of Christ in Fairmont. Burial was in Lakeside Cemetery in Fairmont. Lucille passed away on Feb. 2, 2009, at the Fairmont Medical Center in Fairmont.

Lakeview Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Lucille Ann (Goerndt) Hines was born on Mar. 25, 1929, on her parent’s farm near Guckeen, the daughter of Arthur and Anna (Knoll) Goerndt. On Nov. 25, 1951, Lucille was united in marriage to Thomas Ernest Hines at the St. John United Church of Christ in Fairmont. Following their marriage the couple made their home and farmed for many years in Pleasant Prairie Township. Lucille and Tom were blessed with four children, Lois, Leroy, Linda and Lila.

Lucille worked for Telex Corporation in Blue Earth for many years soldering parts for the U.S. Military. Lucille was a wonderful cook, and became known as the Pie Lady at the Martin County Farmers Market where she sold pies and produce for many years. In her spare time, Lucille enjoyed dancing, working in the garden, cooking, sewing and working on crafts.

Left to cherish her memory are her four children, Lois Hines (friend Dennis Evenson) of Coon Rapids; Leroy Hines of Fairmont; Linda (Mike) Scott of Brooklyn Park; and Lila Janca of Phoenix, Ariz.; six grandchildren, Steven, Ashley, Thomas, Ryan, Tiffany, and Michelle; three sisters-in-law, Nellie Goerndt of Fairmont; Juanita Goerndt of Guckeen and Helen Goerndt of Guckeen; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Lucille is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas; three brothers, Elmer, Vernon and Gordon; and a sister, Gladys.
