Florence N. Hansen, 92
Fairmont — Memorial services for Florence N. Hansen, age 92, of Fairmont, were held April 3, 2009, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont. Burial followed in the East Lutheran Cemetery in Delavan. Florence passed away Feb. 5, 2009, at the Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center in Fairmont. Lakeview Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Florence N. (Currie) Hansen was born on Oct. 6, 1916, in Grinnell, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence and Anna (Dray) Currie. She attended school in Faribault County. Following her education Florence worked as a restaurant cook in Blue Earth and during World War II, she moved to Seattle where she worked as a riveter at Boeing Aircraft. She worked and traveled on the east coast.
On Aug. 15, 1951, Florence was united in marriage to Morton D. Hansen at the United Methodist Church in Blue Earth. Together the couple made their home on his family farm near Delavan where they continued to live until their retirement. Florence worked as a school cook for 17 years in the Delavan School in Delavan. She also worked as a Seamstress for 15 years in Lorraine’s Shop in Mankato.
In her spare time, Florence enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, and tending to her flowers in her garden. She was a member of the Delavan Faith Lutheran Church, serving on the Alter Guild. She cherished memories made with friends on the Bowling League and Curling League. After their retirement, Florence and Morton spent many years at their winter home in Mesa, Ariz.
Left to cherish her memory are her two sisters, Bessie Tait of Snohomish, Wash., and Shirly (Eldo) Fosness of Fairmont; one sister-in-law, Lorraine Currie of Mankato; five nephews; as well as many cousins, extended family, and friends.
In addition to her parents, Florence is preceded in death by her husband, Morton in 1997; two brothers, William Currie and an infant brother, Donald Currie; a brother-in-law, Larry Tait; and a niece, Sharon Fosness.
