Richard K. Warren, 83

Delavan — Richard Warren, age 83, of Delavan, died March 24, 2009, at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale. Funeral services were held March 31, 2009, at United Methodist Church in Delavan. Rev. Lora Sturm officiated. Burial was in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis on April 1. Spencer-Owen Funeral Home in Winnebago was in charge of arrangements.

Richard was born Nov. 13, 1925, in Windom, the son of Parker and Genevieve (Davis) Warren. Richard was raised and educated in Delavan. He was drafted into the Army in November 1944. He married Gertrude (Trudi) Schwarz in 1952 in Salzburg, Austria. He served in World War II, the Korean, and Vietnam War. Richard was stationed at many military bases until his retirement in 1966, and then moved to Delavan.

Richard owned many rental properties in the Delavan area. Richard also enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of the Edward Holt American Legion Post #486, the VFW Post #4580 of Blue Earth and he was a Disabled American Veterans member.

Richard Warren is survived by his son, Richard Jr. (Cindy) Warren of Eden Prairie, and his daughters, Peggy (Bo) Giltner of Bow, Wash., Linda (T.C.) Parker of Hoquiam, Wash., Elaine (Brian) Hulstrand of Willmar, Lisa (Martin) Weis of Brooklyn Center, his stepbrother, Arden (Iris) Fitzgerald of Rushford. Richard is also survived by his ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents, wife and step-brother Merrill.
