Orville K. Olson, 93
Amboy — Orville K. Olson, age 93, of Amboy, died April 21, 2009, at the Mapleton Community Home. Funeral services were held April 25, 2009, at Jackson Lake Lutheran Church in Amboy. Rev. Todd Substad officiated. Burial was in Jackson Lake Cemetery. Spencer-Owen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Orville was born January 6, 1916, in rural Amboy, the son of Halvor and Anna (Thompson) Olson. Orville was raised and educated in Amboy and graduated from Amboy High School. Orville served four years in the Army/Air Force stationed in the South Pacific during World War II. He married June (Eastvold) on June 2, 1946. The two lived and worked on the family farm until her death in 2004. Orville lived on the farm until March 31, 2009 until he moved to the Mapleton Community Home. Orville was a charter member of the Jennings American Legion Post #276 for over 60 years. Orville was baptized, confirmed and a life long member of the Jackson Lake Lutheran Church. He was also a board member of the Delavan Township and the Jackson Lake Church for many years. Orville was an “Original” Twins Fan, and enjoyed watching the games on his big screen T.V.
Orville is survived by his daughter, Linda (Jim) Barr of Amboy, their children, Kristy (Jason) Erdahl, Jerry (Heidi) Barr, and Eric (Leslie) Barr, his son, Larry (Laura) Olson of Waseca, their children, Margo Olson and Philip Olson, his son, Lynn (Marie) Olson of Amboy, their children, Sarah (Jay) Striemer, William Olson, James Olson, and Andrea (Nick) Place, his daughter, Kari Staloch of Amboy, her children, Katie Staloch, Daniel Staloch and Betsy Staloch, his daughter, Peg (Linden) Babcock of Amboy, their children, Allison Babcock and Andrew Babcock, and ten great-grandchildren.
Orville was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers, four sisters, and his grandson Jeff Barr.
