Julie Melinda Sonnek, 40

Delavan — Julie Melinda Sonnek, age 40, of Delavan, died May 11, 2009, at her home. A Mass of Christian Burial was held May 15, 2009, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Easton. Rev. Eugene Stenzel officiated and burial was in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery in Barber Township, Faribault County. Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Julie Melinda Sonnek was born Nov. 18, 1968, the daughter of Emil Jr. and Joyce (Vinz) Tellijohn in LeSueur. She was baptized and confirmed at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in LeSueur. She graduated from LeSueur High School in 1987. She attended Mankato State University and South Central College and received a degree in nursing. On Sept. 19, 1992, Julie was united in marriage to David Sonnek in LeSueur. Julie worked at the Mapleton Clinic. She was a first responder for Delavan and a member of the Lura Lake Association. She was also a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Easton. Julie loved anything to do with sports, especially with her boys. Anyone who knew Julie knows what a generous and caring person she was.

Julie is survived by her husband of 16 years, David Sonnek; three sons: Paul (15), Grant (12) and John (10) Sonnek, all of Delavan; mother, Joyce Tellijohn of LeSueur, two brothers: Ricky (Melissa) Tellijohn of Mankato, David Tellijohn of Rochester, four sisters: Marilyn (Ernie) Schlingman, Carolyn (Jay) Stueven, Donna (Dale) Lehman, all of LeSueur, and Cindy (Neal) Tellijohn Wilson of Dennison. She is survived by extended family of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and their families, and David’s large extended family.

She was preceded in death by her father, Emil Tellijohn, Jr.
