Helen Catherine Pfaffinger, 85
Tucson, Ariz. — Helen C. Pfaffinger, age 85, of Tucson, Ariz., formerly of Blue Earth, died May 14, 2009, at her residence in Tucson. Memorial services were held May 22, 2009, at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Blue Earth. Rev. Mark McNea officiated and burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Blue Earth. Patton Funeral Home and Cremation Service was in charge of arrangements.
Helen was born on May 22, 1923, to Joe and Catherine (Birkeneder) Pfaffinger, in Blue Earth. She was raised on the family farm and educated in Blue Earth, graduating from Blue Earth High School in 1941. She was then employed as a teller at First National Bank in Winnebago for six years. Helen continued as a teller at Banks in Mankato, Tucson, Minneapolis and Englewood, Calif. Her last employment was in Hopkins, before she retired in Tucson. Helen loved dancing, traveling and hiking. At Tucson Estates the RV camping group was great fun for her, along with the hiker’s club. Helen looked forward to return visits to Minnesota for family visits. With failing health, Helen was living at Casa De Carino which means “Home of Love and Affection”. It truly was for her with loving caregivers and close friendships with other residents.
Helen is survived by her brother, Walter Pfaffinger of Blue Earth; sisters-in-law, Agnes Pfaffinger of Blue Earth, and Vivian Pfaffinger of Mankato, many nieces and nephew, and many, many friends.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Frank, John, Edward (and wife Kathleen), Otto, and Richard Pfaffinger.
