Lowell J. “Jiggs” Brucker, 88

Easton — Lowell J. “Jiggs” Brucker, age 88, of Easton, died July 23, 2009, at the Mankato House in Mankato. Services were held July 28, 2009, at the Beck Funeral Home in Bloomington, Ill., with burial and graveside service in Hinthorne Cemetery in Bloomington. Military Honors were accorded. Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells and Beck Funeral Home in Bloomington assisted the family.

Jiggs was born Sept. 26, 1920 in Colfax, Ill., the son of Aurthur and Myrtle (Hinthorne) Brucker. He was united in marriage on Jan. 1, 1942 to Betty Virginia Bills in Hammond, Ind. In 1947 they moved to Winnebago and moved to Easton in 1952, where they have lived since then. Jiggs was a WWII veteran in the Air Force and was stationed in Puerto Rico. He met his wife Betty at a Box Social when he bought her basket. He farmed northwest of Easton. In 1959 he built, owned and operated the Easton Grain Company. He was a Pioneer Seed salesman for over 35 years. He was a member of the Wells VFW, Easton and Wells American Legion, and Hoot ‘n’ Holler of Wells.

Jiggs is survived by daughter Margaret (Dale) Sonnek of Winter Park, Colo.; son Robert (Peggy) Brucker of Mankato; sisters: Verla (Chuck) of Columbus, Ind., Betty (Wayne) Mosier of Colfax, Ill., Carolyn (Larry) Hutson of Bloomington, Ill.; six grandchildren: Missy, Sara (Gary), Chris (Laura), Jeff (Jessica), Kaitlyn, and Lea; five great-grandchildren: Gary, Devin, Colin, Kenzie and Kira; and many nieces, nephews and their families.

He was preceded in death by his wife Betty, daughter Judy Scheid, grandson Todd Brucker; three brothers: Wayne Brucker, Olen Brucker and Gerald Brucker.
