Anne M. Schaefer, 101

Blue Earth — Anne M. Schaefer, age 101, of Blue Earth, died Aug. 16, 2009, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Center. Funeral services were held Aug. 21, 2009, at Hope United Methodist Church in Blue Earth. Pastor Kathleen R. Menne officiated. Burial followed in Riverside Cemetery, Blue Earth. Patton Funeral Home and Cremation Service was in charge of arrangements.

Anne was born Aug. 15, 1908, in Arcadia, Iowa, the daughter of Heman and Bertha (Tank) Rouse. She attended Lakefield and Jackson High Schools, graduating from Jackson High in 1926. She attended Mankato Teachers College and taught school in Vernon Center until 1935. She was married to Reuben Schaefer on June 1, 1935, in Norcross. Anne was a homemaker and the couple farmed for many years four miles east of Blue Earth on the farm place next to the former Immanuel United Methodist Church, where she was a longtime member. She was currently a member of Hope United Methodist Church. Anne was a former member of Farm Bureau, was a 4-H leader and attended the Senior Citizen Center. She enjoyed reading, crocheting and spending time with her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Anne is survived by children, Louis (Marilyn) Schaefer of Blue Earth, Margaret Schwarz of Amboy, Raymond (Nancy) Schaefer of Forsyth, Mont., 12 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and ll great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Reuben in 1983, an infant son, Roger and two sisters.
