James D. Colby, 83

Fessenden — James D. Colby, age 83, of Fessenden, passed away Aug. 18, 2009, at his home in Fessenden. His funeral will be held Friday, Aug. 28, 2009, at 7 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Fessenden with burial at the Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, S.D. Visitation will be held Thursday, Aug. 27, 2009 from 3-6 p.m. at the Nelson Funeral Home in Fessenden.

James Colby, son of Royal and Mae (Blanshan) Colby, was born Dec. 29, 1925, at Faribault. He grew up in the Delavan area and graduated from Delavan High School.

He is survived by his wife Cheryl; children, Pamela Gilmour of Rapid City, S.D., Shari (John) Beigl of Belle Fourche, S.D., Jodi (Mike) Van Iten of Newark, Ill., Todd (Lori) Colby of Mankato, and Corey Stafford of Rochester, daughter-in-law Terri Colby of Blue Earth; 15 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
