Fairmont — A Mass of Christian Burial for Regina A. Kelly, age 85, of Fairmont, was held Aug. 19, 2009, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery in Blue Earth.

Regina passed away on Aug. 15, 2009, at the Fairmont Medical Center. Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont was in charge of arrangements.

Regina A. Kelly was born Oct. 24, 1923, in Guckeen. She was the daughter of William and Nora (O’Sullivan) Kelly. She grew up in Guckeen and received her education there. Regina furthered her education at Mankato Community College where she learned secretarial skills. She was very proud that she was able to type 65 words per minute. Before leaving Guckeen, Regina was the Post Mistress there for two years.

After college, Regina went to work for the Teamster’s Union in Mankato. She later moved to Minneapolis and worked at Foley Brookage Foods where she did office work for over ten years. The company relocated so Regina took a job on Harriet Island. After her mother passed away, she moved back to Guckeen to care for her father. Later, Regina would find an apartment in Fairmont. In 1965, she went to work at Teledyne Aerospace System until her retirement in 1987. Even after retirement, she stayed busy by driving people to Rochester, Minneapolis and other parts of Minnesota for Human Services.

Regina loved to fish when she was younger as well as watching her favorite team, the Minnesota Vikings. She was known to always be a happy person. She will be missed by her many friends. When she needed assistance with her daily care, Regina became a resident at the Roxanne House in Fairmont.

Regina will be remembered by her many caring friends and her nephew, Jim Lutz of Fairmont, and great-nephew, Jim Lutz Jr. of Fairmont.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Nora; and a sister, Mary Lutz.
