Elizabeth G. Thompson, 92

Anamosa, Iowa — Elizabeth G. Thompson, age 92, of Anamosa, Iowa died Sept. 7, 2009, at the Anamosa Care Center.

Services were held Sept. 11, 2009, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Anamosa. Rev. Bill Nielsen officiated the service. Goettsch Funeral Home in Anamosa was in charge of arrangements. Internment was in Riverside Cemetery in Anamosa.

Elizabeth Glendora Erdahl was born on May 22, 1917 in Frost. She was the daughter of Martin and Mary Rake Erdahl. She graduated from Rake High School. Elizabeth and Virgil Thompson were united in marriage on April 22, 1937 in Rake, Iowa. Elizabeth and Virgil lived in Bricelyn from 1940 to 1954. She worked as a bookkeeper for Eclipse Lumber Company and then at the Anamosa Concrete Company. She enjoyed quilting and was an active member in the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Anamosa since 1954. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be dearly missed by those closest to her.

Surviving is a son, Doug (Susan) Thompson of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Lillian Halvorson of Rake; two grandchildren, Jill (Jebb) Rich of Clive, Iowa and Jeff (Laurel) Thompson of Cedar Falls, Iowa; four great-grandchildren, Tyler, Megan, A.J. and Kaitlin Rich.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Virgil; five sisters Bertha Johnson, Rosella Erdahl, Alice Hanson, Mable Legried and Agnes Halvorson; four brothers Rudolph, Alvin, Arvil and Vernon; a granddaughter Pamela Lynn Thompson.
