Bruce William Blakesley, 50

Oct 19, 2009

Amboy — Bruce William Blakesley, age 50, passed away suddenly on October 10, 2009 at his home “in the boondocks” near Amboy. A memorial service was held at Jackson Lake Lutheran Church on Oct. 14, 2009.

Bruce was born on Dec. 17, 1958 to Lawrence and Charlene (Gilman) Blakesley in Winnebago. He graduated from Amboy-Good Thunder High School in 1977. He graduated from Bethany Lutheran College, attending through a full basketball scholarship. On June 15, 1985 he blissfully married Karla (Rennpferd) Blakesley at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Amboy. He was employed by Blue Earth County Service Company in 1979 as a feed truck driver, TBA Manager and Site Specific Soil Specialist. In 1999 he found his dream job with Faribault County as a Planning and Zoning administrator. He was a member for many years on the Shelby Township Board, Maple River School Board and was a past president of Jackson Lake Lutheran Church. Bruce enjoyed spending time with his family including walks in the woods, trapshooting, hunting, making bonfires (with handkerchiefs) and watching his children grow. He also loved farming. Most recently he and Karla (and their children) designed and built a log house together, which was his life-long dream. His family was his life and he would unselfishly go without and give limitless encouragement to help them achieve their dreams.

Bruce is survived by his wife Karla, two sons, Jordan (special friend Jill) of Wells and Elijah (special friend April) of Amboy, one daughter Afton and a most beloved grandchild, Brayden (BB) Blakesley, his puppy JEB, two brothers, one sister, nieces, nephews and his mother.

He was preceded in death by his dad and step-dad Earl Blakesley.
