Joanne A. Johnson, 62

Fairmont — A celebration of life service for Joanne A. Johnson, age 62, of Fairmont, was held Oct. 27, 2009, at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont. Burial was at Lakeside Cemetery in Fairmont.

Joanne passed away Oct. 22, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester.

Joanne A. (Olson) Johnson was born on June 5, 1947, to Ralph and Jane (Golly) Olson in Blue Earth. Joanne attended Blue Earth High School and graduated in 1965. She was united in marriage to (Sam) Winton Johnson on Jan. 16, 1976. She spent 31 years selling real estate for Cavers Realty. Her greatest joy was being with her family and attending all the grandchildren’s activities. She looked forward the most to hockey weekends and the yearly dance recital. Joanne also enjoyed Sunday boating on the Fairmont lakes and fall trips to the Mississippi River in her yellow sports car, stopping at the various favorite spots along the way. Joanne was known for her cooking and feeding the multitudes and one only had to drive by her home to see the pleasure Joanne took in her gardens. She truly took great pleasure in life.

Those that will cherish her memory include: her husband, Sam Johnson of Fairmont, two sons, Max (Brenda) Johnson of Truman, Dustin (Stephanie) Johnson of Fairmont, grandchildren, Brock and Alexis Johnson, mother, Jane Olson of Blue Earth, sister, Laura Olson and special friend, Greg Meinders of Worthington, three brothers, William (Sharon) Olson of Blue Earth, Dwight (Lori) Olson of Winnebago, Perry (Peggy) Olson of Blue Earth, many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Ralph Olson and her in- laws, Sigred and Doris Johnson.
