Marcia J. Mertens, 57

Minneapolis — Marcia J. Mertens, age 57, of Minneapolis, passed away on Oct. 24, 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Memorial services were held Oct. 29, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Minneapolis and Oct. 30, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Blue Earth. Internment was at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Blue Earth.

Marcia was born March 22, 1952 in Blue Earth, the daughter of Henry and Marjorie (Fliss) Mertens. She was baptized on April 20, 1952 and later confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church on May 29, 1966. She grew up in the Easton area and graduated from Delavan High School. She was a graduate of Southwest State University in Marshall and was a self employed CPA. She enjoyed music, theatre, knitting, the Minnesota Twins, and spending time with her nieces and nephews.

Marcia is survived by her father, Henry Mertens of Easton, brothers, Kevin (Diana) Mertens of Easton and Ron (Deb) Mertens of Wells, many nieces and nephews, special friends, and beloved dog, Truffles.

She was preceded in death by mother, Marjorie and infant brother, Rodney.

Memorials preferred to charitable organization of donor’s choice.
