Luverne E. Runyon, 85
Blue Earth — Luverne E. Runyon, age 85, of Blue Earth, died Dec. 28, 2009, at United Hospital, Blue Earth. Funeral services were held Jan. 2, 2010, at Hope United Methodist Church in Blue Earth. Pastor Lois Able officiated. Burial was in Lakebelt Cemetery, Ceylon. Patton Funeral Home and Cremation Service assisted the family with the arrangements.
Luverne was born May 13, 1924, at Boone County, Iowa, the son of Glen and Jenny (Bently) Runyon.
He was raised and educated in Boone County, Iowa where he was a 1944 graduate of Ogden High School. He farmed near Ogden and was married to Ina Earl on Feb. 22, 1946 in Ogden, Iowa. The couple farmed near Ogden until moving to Elk River in 1967 where Luverne worked at the Cargill Research Farm. He later began working as a metal fabricator at several fabricator companies in the twin cities area. In 1972, they returned to farming in Zimmerman where Luverne retired in 1986. The couple moved to Blue Earth in 2006. Luverne had been a member of the Methodist Church in each community where he resided.
Luverne is survived by his wife, Ina Runyon, of Blue Earth, sons Luverne “Sonny” (Leona) Runyon, of Milaca, and Daniel (Marlene) Runyon, of Elk River, his brother, James (Mary) Runyon, of Lawrence, Kan., his sister, Donna Foust, of Jefferson, Iowa, six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Wendell Runyon.
