Richard Danks, 56

Mankato — Richard “Rick” Danks, age 56, of Mankato, formerly of Mapleton, died Jan. 25, 2010 at Mankato House Health Care Center.

A funeral service was held Jan. 29, 2010 at Olson-Tichenor Funeral Home, Mapleton. Rev. Betty Johnson officiated. Private family burial will be held at a later date at Union Cemetery.

Rick was born on March 13, 1953 in Mankato, to Harold and Frances (Mundt) Danks. He graduated from Mapleton High School. Rick worked for the railroad, Hubbard Milling, and most recently for Hiniker. He enjoyed hunting, working on cars, his CB radio, auto racing, Vikings football, oldies music, and old country western t.v. shows. His pride and joy was his granddaughter Ashlyn “the little one”.

He is survived by his children, Jason (Melissa) Danks, Dustin Danks, and Brian (Jamie) Danks; granddaughter, Ashlyn; mother, Frances Danks; siblings, Dianne (Gene) Olsen, Lynn (Eugene) Albrecht, Robert Danks, Sandy (John) Hawker, Beverly Sombke, Timothy (Stacy) Danks, and Polly (Jay) Hiller; many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews; and aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his father, grandparents, and special aunt and uncle, Jeannette and Mitchell.

Memorials are preferred to Meals on Wheels.
