Deloris “Dee” Gudahl, 81

Blue Earth — Deloris “Dee” Gudahl, age 81, of Blue Earth, died March 10, 2010, at United Hospital, in Blue Earth. Funeral services were held March 13, 2010, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Blue Earth. The Rev. Wesley Hafner officiated. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Blue Earth. Patton Funeral Home and Cremation Service was in charge of arrangements.

Dee was born May 9, 1928, in Blue Earth, the daughter of Martin and Erma (Weise) Weise. Dee was a 1946 graduate of Bethany Lutheran High School in Mankato. She was married to Elwood R. “Hoot” Gudahl on Aug. 6, 1947 at Emerald Township. The couple lived in Blue Earth where Dee managed the catalog department of the J.C. Penney Store for 20 plus years, retiring when the store closed. She quickly began working at Gudahl’s Decorating and permanently retired in 2004. Dee was a longtime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where she was very active in all aspects of the church, especially the ladies aide and church choir. She was also active in the community choir, American Legion Auxiliary and with several bowling leagues through the years. She also enjoyed sewing and especially spending time with her darling grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Dee is survived by her children, Susan (David) Buegler, of Avon, Ohio, Bruce (Gail) Gudahl, of Blue Earth and Karen (DeWayne “Nick”) Nickels, of North Mankato; siblings, Wayne Weise, of Blue Earth, Daniel (Marilyn) Weise, of Blue Earth, Lois Schaetzel, of Lomira, Wis., and JoAnn Cleberg, of Ellijay, Ga.; sister-in-law, Connie Fratzke, of Hutchinson; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, “Hoot” in 1984 and two brothers, Ronald and Merlin Weise.
