Ernest W. Frette, 86

Blue Earth — Ernest W. Frette, age 86, of Blue Earth, formerly of Pilot Grove, died March 26, 2010, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Center, Blue Earth. Funeral services were held on March 31, 2010, at Shiloh Lutheran Church, in Elmore. The Rev. Robert Roettger officiated. Burial was in Riverview Cemetery, in Elmore.

Ernest was born May 20, 1923, at Pilot Grove, the son of Nels and Selma (Osvog) Frette. He attended country school in Pilot Grove and was a 1941 graduate of Elmore High School. Following school he entered the U.S. Navy where he served as a Gunners Mates 2nd Class of ships in the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters. He served in waters off of several countries around the world before returning to Pilot Grove in 1946. He was married to Gladys E. Johs on Oct. 26, 1946, in Long Island, N.Y. The couple began farming in Pilot Grove and eventually purchased their own farm northeast of Pilot Grove in 1958, where they farmed until Ernest retired in 1998. Ernest was a lifelong member of Salem Lutheran Church in Pilot Grove. He became a member of Shiloh Lutheran Church in Elmore in 1993, following the closing of Salem Church. He was also a member of the Blue Earth VFW post 4580.

Ernest is survived by his wife, Gladys Frette, of Blue Earth; daughters, Joanne (Bob) Johnston, of Fairmont and Linda (Bob) Hauge, of Lake Crystal; son, Michael (Rita) Frette, of Fairmont; sister, Myrtle Muyres, of Minneapolis; sister-in-law, Janet (Eugene) Krause, of Medford; six grandchildren, Robb Johnston, Kent Johnston, Molly Hauge, Kyle Hauge, Dr. Bridget (Justin) Boyle, and Justin Frette; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Ted (Violet) Frette, Melvin (Evelyn) Frette, Erling Frette; a sister, Sylvia (Edwin) Anderson; and a brother-in-law, Robert L. Muyres.
