Blue Earth — Mina Asmus, age 78, of Blue Earth, died April 20, 2010, at her home.

A public celebration of her life was held on April 22, 2010, at the Robin and Dennis Stenzel Farm, in Delavan. Further services will be held at a later date in Colorado. Patton Funeral Home and Cremation Service assisted the family with the arrangements.

Mina was born July 21, 1931, at Crosby, the daughter of John and Alta (Oppelt) Van Epps. She lived in Crosby until 1940 when she moved to Austin. She was a 1949 graduate of Austin High School. Mina moved to Frost in 1968 and was married to Robert M. Asmus in December 1968, in Sioux Falls, S.D. She was a member of the Blue Earth American Legion Auxiliary before moving to Denver, Colo., in 1982, where she worked as a switchboard operator at the prestigious Brown Palace Hotel. She retired in 1995 and returned to Blue Earth in 2001.

Mina is survived by her children, Rhonda Tunison, of Hayfield, Connie Remke, of Henderson, Colo., Mara Ruff, of Denver, Colo., Jackie Christgau, of Austin, Kathy Goodell, of St. Paul, Roger Asmus, of Belmond, Iowa, Donald Asmus, of Blue Earth, Robin Stenzel, of Delavan, and Linda Brazell, of Blackhawk, Colo.; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Asmus, in 1977; and a brother, Jack Van Epps.
