Ruby True, 97

Blue Earth — Ruby True, age 97, of Blue Earth, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2010, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Center, Blue Earth.

Funeral Services will be held today, May 10, 2010, at 11 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church, in Blue Earth. The Rev. Dr. Mark Wilms officiated. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Blue Earth.

Ruby was born Feb. 1, 1913, at Humboldt Co., Iowa, the daughter of Osmund and Stena (Tesdahl) Viland. The family moved to Minnesota when Ruby was just 3 years old. She attended country school and Elmore High School. Ruby married Melvin “Red” True on Dec. 4, 1932, in Fairmont. She and her husband farmed in Pilot Grove Township for more than 50 years. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church and the Dorcas Circle at Salem until it’s closure in 1993, at which time she joined Trinity Lutheran Church, in Blue Earth. She enjoyed fishing, traveling, playing cards, playing golf and wintering at their Arizona home.

Ruby is survived by her sons, Ronald (Donna) True, of Albert Lea and Donald (Colleen) True, of Blue Earth; daughter, Susan Cassens, of Blue Earth; sister, Evelyn Shock, of Rapid City, SD; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Melvin in 1996; son-in-law, Larry Cassens; brothers, Roy and Orville Viland; and sister, Esther Fussner.
