Frost — Dorothy B. Urness, age 100, of Frost, died May 16, 2010, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Center, Blue Earth.
Funeral Services were held May 21, 2010, at United Lutheran Church, in Frost. The Rev. Patricia Hinkie officiated. Burial was in United Lutheran Cemetery, Frost. Patton Funeral Home and Cremation Service was in charge of arrangements.
Dorothy was born on March 6, 1910, at rural Blue Earth, the daughter of Sam and Julia (Knutson) Olson. The family moved to rural Frost when she was 10 and Dorothy was since a lifetime Frost resident. She was married to Henry C. Urness on Feb. 15, 1947, in Frost. Dorothy was a homemaker and was able to live in her home to the age of 99. She was also a longtime member of United Lutheran Church where she was active in the quilting group, circle, ladies aide and taught Sunday School. Dorothy was a local babysitter to many, loved to play cards, grew many gardens and canned vegetables for years. She was famous for her baking and Dorothy’s Donuts.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Cynthia (Stan) Sweet, of Aurora, Colo.; son, Ray (Cyndee) Urness, of Frost; three step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special caregiver, Sara Kling.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Henry, in 1967; two brothers, Orville and Curtis Olson; and a nephew, Roger Olson.
