Keith Curtiss, 83
Blue Earth — Keith Curtiss, age 83, of Blue Earth, died May 20, 2010, at United Hospital, in Blue Earth.
Funeral Services were held May 24, 2010, at Hope United Methodist Church, in Blue Earth. The Rev. Wane Souhrada officiated. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Blue Earth. Patton Funeral Home and Cremation Service was in charge of arrangements.
He was born Sept. 11, 1926, at Middleriver, the son of Ray and Jenny (Wing) Curtiss. He was raised in the rural Elmore and Pilot Grove areas where he attended country schools. He worked as a farm hand before entering the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II. He returned from the service and was soon married to Phyllis M. Schmidt on Nov. 27, 1947, in Osakis. The couple lived at rural Blue Earth where Keith was a trucker, hauling produce for Green Giant and other companies. In 1950, he began Curtiss Trucking Co. and specialized in hauling livestock for many years. He retired in 2007. Keith was a member of Hope United Methodist Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4580. He enjoyed fishing and time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was also proud to have helped several others start their own trucking operations through the years.
Keith is survived by his son, Michael (Pam) Curtiss, of Blue Earth; daughters, Karen Curtiss, of Rochester, Becky (Doug) Nagel, of Blue Earth, and Christy (David) Sneen, of Shakopee; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; siblings, Winn (Bud) Kessel, of Lamoni, Iowa, Eunyce (Dick) Renkly, of Arlington, S.D., George (Hazel) Curtiss, of Eyota, Jeanette (Bill) Hanson, of Blue Earth; brother-in-law, Harold (Bea) Schmidt, of Randall; and sister-in-law, Arletta Curtiss, of Mazzula, Mont.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Phyllis, in 2006; sister, Phyllis Baldwin; brother, Dale Curtiss; brother-in-law, Don Baldwin; and a great-grandson, Zachary Spencer.
