Arnold H. “Bud” Toupal, 83
Mankato — Arnold Henry “Bud” Toupal, age 83, of Mankato, formerly of Winnebago, died on Sept. 21, 2010, at Laurels Peak, in Mankato.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Sept. 24, 2010, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Winnebago. The Rev. Leo Koppala officiated. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Winnebago.
Spencer-Owen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Arnold “Bud” Toupal was born on Oct. 30, 1926, at Olivia, the son of Henry and Rose (Ocenasek) Toupal. Bud came to Blue Earth at a young age and moved to the Riverside Golf Course where he helped his dad as a greens keeper. Bud attended Winnebago High School until he joined the Navy, serving during WWII. In 1949 Bud married Lillian Sickler, of Delavan. Bud worked as a postal employee for 38 years serving both the Huntley and Winnebago areas. Bud and Lillian resided in Winnebago for 59 years before moving to Mankato in 2009. Bud enjoyed sports, fishing and he was a member of the Winnebago American Legion Post #82 and the Winnebago Fire Department for many years.
Bud is survived by his wife, Lillian, of Mankato; children, Dianne (Marvin) Terry, of Bricelyn, Nancy Engelby, of Mankato, Sheila Toupal, of Bloomington, Gordon (Karen) Toupal, of Fairmont, Ronald (Paula) Toupal, of New Brighton; brothers, Marvin (Lois) Toupal, of Renville, and Henry Toupal, of Scottsdale, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Richard Toupal; sister, Shirley Grove; sister-in-law, Jeanette Toupal; and nephew, James Toupal.
