Della A. Phillip

Granada — Funeral Services for Della A. Philipp, age 65, of Granada, were held Oct. 12, 2010, at St. John’s United Church of Christ, in Fairmont. Burial followed at Center Creek Cemetery, near Granada.

Della passed away Oct. 7, 2010, on her farm near Granada. Lakeview Funeral Home, Fairmont, was in charge of arrangements.

Della Arlene (Saunders) Philipp was born on Sept. 26, 1945, in Forsyth, Mont. She was the daughter of Harold and Amy (Huffman) Saunders. Della graduated from Humboldt High School, in St. Paul.

On March 5, 1966, Della was united in marriage to Dennis D. Philipp, in St. Paul. This union was blessed with four children. The couple resided on the farm in Granada and shared forty-four years together.

Della’s first job was working as a secretary to the vice president of a bank in the Twin Cities. After getting married, she became a farmer’s wife, devoted mother and grandmother. Della was very active with volunteer work to the school system throughout her four children’s educational years. This volunteer work earned her the Martin County Volunteer of the Year Award.

During her free time, Della enjoyed going to casinos, watching her son race, traveling, attending craft fairs, playing Bingo at Hy-Vee on Tuesdays, and decorating for the holidays. She especially loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and friends as well as playing cards during “Philipp family fun night.”

Left to cherish her memory include her husband, Dennis Philipp, of Granada; children, Dawn (Paul) Royer, of Bloomington, Duane (Susan) Philipp, of Fairmont, Denise (Tom) Hennis, of Fairmont, and Dustin (Heather) Philipp, of Granada; grandchildren, Philip and Nathan Royer, of Bloomington, and Robyn Hennis, of Fairmont; brothers, Charles Saunders, of Virginia, and Richard Saunders, of California; sister, Joy (Tim) Senecal, of Fairmont; two half-sisters, Joan Pelzer, of Vadnais Heights, and Marge Fine, of Beaverton, Ore.; mother-in-law, Ruth Philipp, of Fairmont; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Gary and Janice Philipp, of Monticello, Diane and John Evans, of Fairmont, Eugene and Donna Philipp, of Circle Pines, and Gaylene and Peter Gunberg, of Coon Rapids; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Along with her parents, Harold and Amy Saunders, Della is preceded in death by her father-in-law, Lester Philipp; and sister-in-law, Jeannie Saunders.
