Helen M. Peterson, 90
St. Peter — Helen Marie Peterson (Feb. 14, 1920 – Oct. 5, 2010) a long-time member of St. John Vianney Church, Fairmont, and resident at Heritage Meadows facility, St. Peter has gone to join her Heavenly Father. Mrs. Peterson was a Rice County Registrar, Social Security Representative and Homemaker, retired in 1983. Helen?Peterson was active in AAUW, League of Women Voters, Common Cause, Ave Maria Study Club, VFW Auxiliary and Martin County History Club.
Helen Marie (Houghtaling) was preceded in death by her parents, (Andrew) Lyn and Louise Houghtaling, of Blue Earth; and by her husbands, Frank Martin Duncan and Venzel James Peterson.
She is survived by two sisters, Elizabeth Spencer and Mary Lyons; four children, Marty (Carolynn) Duncan, Louise Duncan, Elizabeth Duncan, and Margaret (Jim) Barvinek; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A private Memorial Prayer service will be celebrated at Church of St. Peter (1801 West Broadway) at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010. Memorials are preferred and should be directed to Heifer International; 1 World Avenue, Little Rock, AR 72202; or www.heifer.org
Helen Peterson attended school at Blue Earth Public and St. Catherine’s College, St. Paul. She lived at various times in Washington, D.C., Omaha, Neb.; Faribault and Fairmont.
