Clarice A. Rhoda, 91
Elmore – Clarice A. Rhoda, age 91, of Elmore, died Oct. 29, 2010, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Center, Blue Earth.
Funeral Services were held Nov. 3, 2010, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Elmore. The Rev. Dale Kohrs officiated. Burial was in Riverview Cemetery, Elmore. Patton Funeral Home and Cremation Service, in Blue Earth, assisted the family with the arrangements.
Clarice was born June 12, 1919, in Bricelyn, the daughter of Eddie and Annie (Johnson) Hove. She grew up in and attended Rake, Iowa, schools. She was a housekeeper and worked at Hagge’s Restaurant before her marriage to Roy A. Rhoda on April 29, 1941, in Bricelyn. The couple farmed near Elmore for many years until 1971 when they moved to Elmore and purchased the Colonial Inn Restaurant. Later, Clarice worked at St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Center in the housekeeping department until retiring in 1990. She was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Elmore.
Clarice loved to cook and was a wonderful baker and was known for her famous brownies.
Clarice is survived by her daughters, Kaye (Arlan) Walton, of Rochester, and Jackie (Tom) McNallan, of Rochester; sisters, Thelma Roberts, of Blue Earth, Arlean (George) Baker, of Surprise, Ariz., and Shirley (Tom) Helling, of Hudson, Iowa; brother-in-law, Dale Thompson; sisters-in-law, LaVon Hove, Anola Hove and Iva Pannkuk; life long friend, Cary Taylor; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roy, in 2006; sisters, Gladys Keister, Emmeline Henning, and Marjorie Thompson; brothers, Clifford, Orville and Arlow Hove; and grandson, Perry Walton.
