Aleia K. Dettmer, 11
Fairmont – Funeral Services for Aleia K. Dettmer, age 11, of Fairmont, were held Nov. 18, 2010, at the United Methodist Church, in Fairmont.
Aleia passed away Nov. 14, 2010, at her home in Fairmont. The Lakeview Funeral?Home of Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.
Aleia Kathleen Dettmer was born on Dec. 7, 1998, in Fairmont, the daughter of Rhonda Lee Shoen and Derry “Todd” Dettmer. She attended William Budd School and was enrolled in Five Lakes Elementary as a student in the fifth grade and had Mr. Rosner and Mrs. Wells as her teacher.
From the minute she was born, Aleia brought much joy and happiness to her family. Some of her favorite times were spent with her brothers and sister, watching Barney and singing along to all the songs Barney would sing. She was delighted when she received a special bike so she too could enjoy going for a ride. Aleia had a smile that would brighten the day for those around her and had a sneaky smirk when she was being a “little stinker” by pestering her siblings. Her classmates throughout the years loved her and cherished her friendship. Aleia was a member of Shining Stars, Make a Wish Foundation, the Minnesota Epilepsy Foundation Walk, and the school choir.
Aleia’s bubbly personality will be greatly missed by those that loved her and by those whose life she touched. To her family, Aleia was an “Angel on loan from God.”
Left to cherish her memory are her mother and step-father, Rhonda and Shawn Shoen; father, Derry “Todd” Dettmer; brothers, Lee Kyle Shoen, Kelvin Thomas Bahr, Corey Max Shoen, and S. Ian Shoen; sister, Drew Alayne Dettmer; adopted sisters, Martina Ikert, of Germany, Conny Beck, of Germany, and Dabby Tse, of Hong Kong; grandparents, Elaine (Don) Kenyon, Maurice and Kris Shoen, Kathleen (Dennis) Skelly, and Gary and Marcia Fritzmeier; adopted grandmother, Barbara Jean Hagen; aunts and uncles, Robert and Colette Bahr and family, Dale Bahr and family, Danielle Bahr and family, Annie and Curtis Gibson and their daughter Hannah, Angi Montomery and family, Dana Dettmer and Chad Hybbert, and Lisa and Dwayne Wimbley; as well as many other extended family and friends.
Aleia is preceded in death by Ronald Bahr, Derry Dettmer, Roger Rotering, Logan Dettmer, and Lester and Angeline Weber.
