Deann Marie (Weringa) Phillips, 46
Champlin – Deann Marie (Weringa) Phillips, 46, suffered a heart attack and died at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids on Monday, November 15, 2010.
Visitation was held Nov. 18, 2010, at Gearhart Anoka Funeral Home, in Anoka.
Deann was born in Buffalo Center, Iowa, on October 30, 1964, to Dennis and Beth (Johnson) Weringa of Blue Earth. Deann and her younger brother, Dennis, grew up in Blue Earth where she graduated from Blue Earth Area High School in 1983. Deann went on to attend the University of Minnesota at Waseca, for two years majoring in agricultural business before moving to the Twin Cities. On November 27, 1993, Deann married Randal (Randy) Phillips of Coon Rapids, and in 1996 they bought a home on the Blue Earth River near her home town of Blue Earth. Deann worked for Legred Swine Genetics, Inc. in Bricelyn for 10 years until she and her husband moved back to the Twin Cities. Most recently, Deann was employed by Cargill as an accounting clerk in the grain division. Through the years she acquired many close and lasting friendships and will be remembered as a most kind, caring, and loyal friend.
Deann is survived by her husband, Randal Phillips; her parents, Dennis and Beth (Johnson) Weringa; brother Dennis (Amy) Weringa, and their children Joshua and Ellen Weringa; her maternal grandmother Grace Johnson; her uncles Alan (Kathy) Johnson, Denny Johnson (Cheryl Hansen), Craig (Deb) Weringa, Ron (Deb) Weringa, Larry (Mary) Weringa; her aunt Rita (Weringa) Davis, and many loved cousins and extended family.
Deann is also survived by her mother and father-in-law, Marlene and Lamoyne Phillips; her brother-in-law, Eric (Cindy) Phillips, her sisters-in-law Cheryl (Mike) Cota and Kelly (Todd) Newman, and many loved nieces and nephews and extended family.
Deann was preceded in death by her grandparents Epko Johnson, Herman and Madeline Weringa; and her uncle Jay Davis.
Deann also leaves behind her beloved pets Abbie, Shelby, and Montana, Socrates, and many dear friends. Deann will live in our hearts and memories as a vivacious, loving, and faithful spirit.
