Lucille A. Habeger

Winnebago – Lucille A. Habeger, age 89, of Winnebago, died Nov. 27, 2010, at United Hospital, in Blue Earth.

Memorial Services were held Nov. 30, 2010, at Woodland Hills Chapel, in Mankato. Interment was in Woodland Hills Memorial Park, in Mankato.

Lucille was born March 17, 1921, in rural Sleepy Eye, to Arthur A. and Mary M. (Riebel) Zuhlsdorf. She attended school in Grandview, Wis. On Oct. 13, 1940, Lucille was united in marriage to Elwood Habeger at the First Presbyterian Church, in Mankato. In 1952, the couple moved to Garden City where they set up their own business in insurance and real estate, they later moved to Winnebago where they owned and operated Habeger Insurance and Real Estate until 1979. During her working years, Lucille was a waitress, worked at Johnson Reel, was a receptionist for their business and later had daycare in her home. In her leisure time she enjoyed working outside especially in her rose and flower garden. Lucille especially loved spending time with her family.

Lucille was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, in Winnebago, and Winnebago Garden Club where she served as vice president for 12 years.

Lucille is survived by her sons, Edward, of Anchorage, Alaska, and Wesley (Paula), of Duluth; daughters, Sandra (Arlo) Jaeger, of Garden City, and Carol (Michael) Rollings, of Dalton, Neb.; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Arthur (Nadine) Zuhlsdorf, of Kasota; sisters, Sylvia Pettis, of St. Peter, and Hazel Griffith, of Mankato; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elwood, in 2002; one sister; two granddaughters; and two grandsons.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to United Hands Hospice.
