Florence M. Garletz

Winnebago – Florence Muir Garletz, age 95, of Winnebago, died Feb. 1, 2011, at Parker Oaks Care Center, of Winnebago.

Funeral Services were held Feb. 4, 2011, at First Presbyterian Church, of Winnebago. The Rev. Michael Roys officiated. Burial will be at a later date.

Spencer-Owen Funeral Home, of Winnebago, assisted the family with the arrangements.

Florence was born March 3, 1915, in Winnebago, to Harry and Florence (Austin) Muir. She graduated in 1933 from Winnebago High School and 1938 from Iowa State College with a degree in Home Economics Education. She taught Home Economics at Preston, and later took a job as County Extension Agent in Clay County. Florence married Howard (Joe) Garletz, on Sept. 17, 1943.

Florence was a Charter Member of Winnebago Garden Club, Round Table Study Club, a member of Parker Oaks Auxiliary, Home Economic Club for Faribault County, Rosehill Cemetery Association and Presbyterian Ladies Circle.

Left to cherish her memory is daughter, MaryJo (Richard) Anderson; son, Kim (Carol) Garletz; grandchildren, Eric Anderson, Christopher (Kara) Anderson, Annalee Garletz, Joe Garletz; nine great-grandchildren; and sister, Ruth (Muir) Hartman.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sisters, Marion Muir and Helen Waller.
